PULLS June 6, 2011

Understanding one thing and it

Pulls away from another I

Thought was locked in place.

There is no return to what was.

No cement, no thought, no thing.

No reason to make the bed.

WAITING (8) June 6, 2011

Perhaps I read the schedule wrong

And transposed the dates and time

Or the train derailed and fell

Off of the tracks leaving me

Here and wondering if I

Should leave the station.

How long does one wait?

What hour says wisdom,

What hour says fool?

SEPARATED June 2, 2011

Separated from my soul

While walking through the park and

I think of it as a child off on its own

And there is fear that

It can be molested or exposed

To a horrendous reality

Or feel the loneliness of being lost

And cry out for me

But I might not hear.

SELF INFLICTED June 2, 2011

Self inflicted understanding, piercings

Wrapped through lips and lobes and

Sacred created punctuated screams

Of discovery – sympathy.  Oh, child!

It’s not the pain, the punishment,

Raised threats.  Not the future, no.

Ignore every other thing you see.

But see me, only me, always me.

JUST AS EASY June 1, 2011

Just as easy to see the world as you do,

To touch your skies, your flowers, your heavens.

Is it insane to see what others say is there?

To be in harmony, no matter the price?

When the rogue is shunned, everyone joins in.

But when it is praised, it is good to be him.

Do you know what will happen to you?

CHANGE THE WORLD TODAY May 25, 2011

The voice asked nicely

A whisper

A reminder

Warm bath bubbles breaking

With sighs

If I would

Or could

Change the world today.

Without bravado

Or sense of

Being special,

Yet joy filled,

Smiling,

And kissing me goodbye,

I accepted.

MICHELANGELO MAN May 17, 2011

Like the man in Michelangelo’s drawing with

Arms and legs braced at the corners ready

To spin as if a wheel but I am in the doorway,

Waiting, for your arrival, for another chance,

For the freedom to relax and walk away.

MID OCEAN May 17, 2011

In the middle of the ocean and everything looks familiar.

It has been that way for a while, me only on a raft.

Perhaps the day will come that I see an island,

Or passing ship, whales, something in the heavens.

But I am in the middle of the ocean.

I expect everything to be the same for a while.

MERRY GO May 17, 2011

Carnival’s in town and the Merry Go Round is broken.

Lights works.  Music’s on.  It simply will not spin.

Experts have been called in from the world’s leading circuses.

They’ve examined with stethoscopes and hit with hammers.

They’ve tightened bolts and polished chrome.

They’ve even shown it movies of Merry Go Rounds that work.

Nothing.

The burial is tomorrow.

Someone said it is now a Merry Went Round.

No one laughed.

ASHES May 13, 2011

Knowing, just knowing the sun will rise tomorrow,

Birds will sing, they’ll fly,

A friend will say hello, how are you,

And deep inside my heart, a piece of coal,

Will sizzle and shiver and glow bright,

Until nothing is left but ashes,

Cool, cool ashes.
